OK - So it's been awhile, my friends

Life can really get complicated and energy can be sapped by the job and the day to day, but I'm making a new commitment to this blog, at least making a few entries a month, and shoot for more! Bea is quickly growing and, like the old adage, life is over in a blink of an eye and I want to record some of it. I may not write about all the high highs (and the low lows!) but I'm going to strive to use this as a journal of sorts.

For Those of You Not On FaceBook...a tribute to the moment I broke down and got her the doll head -- it was genuinely earned through putting up with shampoos...

gra·tu·itous cute halloween photos of beatrice

I couldn't help it. I held myself off as long as I could. I did send the grandparents photos immediately, but I feel you should all be made to ooh and aah, if only to be polite:

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of me as the Geisha "Girl" after a long, hard night!

Figurative Art

I am pleased that Beatrice is captivated enough by the human head to draw faces. We also discovered, by coming across a rather large "inscription" in one of Bea's books, that she's started printing her name; the letters are not in order, mind you, but all three are there. Wait until some ocd teacher makes here write her full name!

Bad Idea?

I remember these as a kid, and I've just been reminded of them now through Beatrice, but what about those markers they sell that smell like something? I'm not sure, for many reasons, this is a good idea - can you imagine the folks at Crayola sitting around the table talking about what a great selling point it would be if we could get kids started early smelling markers - what's next, spray paint that smells like watermelon?

Here's an example of a much less toxic, though equally as disturbing, perhaps, side effect of the smelly markers - the dreaded nose marks:
